Self-Advocacy Overview
Oak Tree's Self-Advocacy course teaches people with a disability about how to advocate for themselves and expand their lives. Everyday skills are taught to help individuals make informed choices and stand up for themselves. They will learn how to:

- assert themselves,
- collect and understand important information,
- connect with others and have meaningful relationships,
- direct their own services,
- develop actionable person-centered plans,
- learn their rights,
- learn civil rights for others, and
- share their wants and needs with others.

Self-Advocacy Course
This course is designed to normalize their lives with things they are likely to encounter and takes them through a course that’s:
- 24-weeks of classes with a combination of in-person, on-line and 1:1 time.
- Very interactive! Each week there will be up to 4 hours of class time and 1:1 time.
- $9,600 for the whole course. This is a wavier funded program.
The next two 24-week courses are scheduled to begin:
- July 8th, 2025
- January 6th, 2026

Self-Advocacy Referral Process
Self-Advocacy is easy to register for!
If you're on a waiver and not using another Specialty Service, you are eligible!
We'll simply need:

- A referral form to Oak Tree Support Services, and an
- Active Service Agreement.
